Senior Finance Analyst-FAS | Mayo Clinic

The Tone:
This is a hybrid position at Mayo Clinic, requiring the candidate to be located within 100 miles of the Arizona campuses for on-site expectations based on business needs. Mayo Clinic is a multi-site, multi-specialty academic medical center that requires a Senior Finance Analyst to assure the integrity of its financial and statistical data. This role is crucial for providing leadership in complex financial activities and identifying opportunities to optimize financial margins while upholding Mayo Clinic’s high standards and minimizing risks.

• Team: Fourth in a series of four finance analyst roles.
• Mission: Assure the integrity of financial and statistical data, provide leadership for complex financial activities, and proactively identify opportunities for increasing financial margins.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, large accounting and/or grant management systems.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Assure Data Integrity: Prepare or review general ledger entries, reports, schedules, worksheets, reconciliations, or other analysis to assure the integrity of financial and statistical data.
• Provide Leadership: Offer leadership in a team environment, supporting complex, ambiguous, and highly visible multidisciplinary activities or projects.
• Develop Financial Tools: Develop, implement, and maintain programs and tools for financial reporting for complex activities, including variable-sensitive business models or compliance/fiscal management tools.
• Interpret and Implement Regulations: Interpret and implement accounting rules, fiscal compliance, policies, and regulations to ensure adherence.
• Improve Financial Performance: Proactively identify opportunities and recommend options for increasing financial margins while preserving Mayo standards and minimizing financial and legal risks.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance. This is a senior-level role focused on finance, accounting, and compliance technical areas.
• Experience: Minimum of 8 years applicable experience in accounting or finance (if degree is in Accounting or Finance), OR 12 years (if other business-related bachelor’s degree), OR a Master’s degree with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance with 6 years of applicable experience.
• Skills: Expert understanding of accounting and finance practices, advanced knowledge of Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook, expert investigational skills, attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
• Bonus: Master’s degree in a business-related field, a CPA (active or inactive), CMA or CIA. Healthcare experience is strongly preferred.
