This role is fundamental to Terracon’s materials service line, where you will conduct essential field and laboratory testing. Your contributions will be critical in the analysis and evaluation of concrete, soil, asphalt, and aggregates, directly ensuring quality and compliance with vital engineering standards for various projects. The TL;DR

What You’ll Actually Do
• Testing: Perform sampling and testing procedures for concrete, soil, asphalt, and aggregates as directed by senior staff or project managers.
• Support: Provide dedicated assistance to other field and laboratory personnel, and professional staff with various project needs and routine operational tasks.
• Logistics: Transport equipment, specimens, or documents to field personnel, the laboratory, clients, or other offices, and provide physical assistance in the setup and breakdown of testing equipment.
• Upkeep: Maintain a clean and organized work environment by regularly cleaning equipment, vehicles, and designated work areas.
• Development: Engage in a progressively increased role of training and responsibility, gaining valuable experience and expertise in work assignments.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Early career professional seeking growth within engineering and technical consulting. Candidates must possess a high school diploma and be actively pursuing a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in a scientific or closely related field. Relevant fields include Environmental Science, Safety, Engineering (Civil, Geotechnical, Materials), Chemistry, Biology, or Geology, providing a foundational understanding for the role.
• Experience: This entry-level position does not require prior professional experience, focusing instead on academic progression and readiness for hands-on technical work.
• Skills: Fundamental ability to understand and perform sampling and testing procedures for construction materials such as concrete, soil, asphalt, and aggregates. Possess strong organizational skills for maintaining equipment and work areas, along with effective communication for coordination and assistance.
• Bonus: The ideal candidate will have less than one year remaining to complete their BS degree, demonstrating a clear path towards transitioning into a full-time professional role upon graduation.
