Family Law Paralegal | The Maine Divorce Group

The TL;DR

• Pay: $25–$35 hourly
• Team: Collaborates with multiple attorneys and team members.
• Mission: To support attorneys in case preparation, execution of legal strategy, and providing high-quality client service.
• Tech Stack: Mac OS, Google Workspace, MyCase, CRM Database
What You’ll Actually Do
• Case Scheduling: Manage all scheduling for court dates, mediations, client meetings, and critical case deadlines.
• Case File Management: Open and maintain accurate, organized digital and physical case files throughout the entire case lifecycle.
• Document Drafting: Prepare, draft, and format a variety of family law documents, including pleadings, motions, financial affidavits, and discovery requests/responses.
• Discovery Process: Oversee discovery processes, tracking deadlines, organizing document production, and maintaining comprehensive case summaries.
• Client Communication: Communicate professionally and empathetically with clients, including handling sensitive or high-conflict situations and de-escalating when appropriate.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree. Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working under an attorney in a family law firm.
• Experience: Completion of an ABA-approved paralegal certificate program. Expertise with Mac Operating Systems, Google Suite, and CRM Database is required.
• Skills: Strong legal research and legal writing skills, integrity and discretion in handling confidential matters, strong time-management and organizational abilities, and excellent communication skills with the ability to manage client interactions professionally.
