This is a full-time role with the Department of Accounting & General Services, located in Kona, Hawaii Island. The Department of Accounting & General Services provides essential infrastructure and operational support for public buildings and schools across Hawaii. This role is crucial for ensuring these vital public facilities remain functional and safe, directly impacting the well-being of communities on Hawaii Island.

• Pay: $4742–$6003 monthly
• Mission: To receive, coordinate, and support the repair and maintenance of public buildings and schools through efficient record-keeping and purchasing.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Coordination: Receive and coordinate requests for the repair and maintenance of schools and other public buildings.
• Purchasing: Conduct informal bid purchasing for supplies, materials, and services required for repairs and maintenance.
• Data Management: Maintain pertinent operating and fiscal data related to maintenance activities.
• General Support: Perform other related duties as assigned to support repair and maintenance operations.
The Must-Haves
• Background: High school graduation (or equivalent experience) and legal authorization to work in the U.S. Applicants must also possess demonstrated supervisory aptitude or potential for supervisory duties.
• Experience:
* General Experience: TWO (2) YEARS of general work experience that involved keeping written records, which could be a major or vital portion of past job responsibilities in any general field of employment.
* Specialized Experience: THREE (3) YEARS of progressively responsible experience in one or a combination of the following areas:
* Scheduling: Planning building construction or maintenance work, including receiving requests, recommending priorities, scheduling jobs, estimating time, manpower, and materials, following up on job status, and preparing status reports.
* Purchasing: Acquiring building construction or maintenance materials or services, including studying market conditions, selecting suppliers, preparing purchase orders, bid proposals, contracts, and analyzing cost-price proposals.
* Selling: Marketing building construction or maintenance materials or services, including preparing bids, engaging customers, demonstrating products, estimating prices, preparing sales contracts, and reporting transactions.
* Estimating: Calculating labor and material costs for construction or maintenance, including examining specifications, compiling itemized lists, and computing cost estimates.
• Skills: Ability to maintain accurate written records, coordinate complex requests, conduct informal bid purchasing, and manage operating and fiscal data.
• Bonus: Possession of a valid driver’s license may be required at the time of appointment for some positions.
