Entry-Level Systems Engineer (MBSE) | Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL)

The Tone:
This is an early career position at Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL), located in North Logan, UT. SDL delivers advanced multi-domain solutions to protect national security and enable scientific discovery, with expertise in satellites, sensors, ground systems, and autonomous systems. This role supports mission-critical C4ISR solutions by applying Model-Based Systems Engineering to government programs, ensuring robust system design and documentation. The selected candidate will contribute to specialized digital engineering environments for government partners.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Model Development: Develops and maintains system models using SysML in Cameo Systems Modeler.
• Requirements Management: Supports requirements management activities, including importing, organizing, and refining technical requirements.
• Architecture Artifacts: Creates and maintains system architecture artifacts, including block definition, internal block, activity, sequence, state, and parametric diagrams.
• Documentation Generation: Generates model-based documentation to support system design reviews and program milestones.
• Team Collaboration: Collaborates with multidisciplinary engineering teams to support system integration.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, mechanical engineering, or a closely related discipline, completed or within six months of posting.
• Experience: No more than five years of relevant experience, with demonstrated academic or professional application of SysML in a model-based systems engineering environment using Cameo Systems Modeler or comparable MBSE tools.
• Skills: Familiarity with systems requirements development and management, ability to produce clear technical documentation, strong written and verbal communication skills, and eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
• Bonus: Practical experience developing and maintaining production-level SysML models, experience supporting government or defense-related engineering programs, familiarity with requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS, Visure, JAMA), and programming or scripting experience (e.g., Python, MATLAB).
