Entry Level Software Engineer/Software Developer

About the Job
Amentum is seeking a talented Entry Level Software Engineer/Software Developer to support Naval Research Operations. This role involves developing software on an Agile Software Development team (7 or less developers) for a current Naval program. The engineer will be responsible for creating new software or converting existing code from languages such as C++, Matlab, Java, or Python to C++, Python, or other languages to streamline and modernize software for Naval Research systems and technology.
Responsibilities Include:
- Develop and/or verify software system specifications and requirements documentation.
- Develop support system software capabilities, features, or enhancements.
- Plan, perform, and lead software design, coding, and testing activities.
- Work with customers and engineers in an adaptive Agile environment.
- Build and maintain the latest Simulation/Stimulation (Sim/Stim) development tools.
- Help expand the organization’s Modeling & Simulation (M&S) capability.
Work Location:
Primary work location will be in Fredericksburg, VA or Dahlgren, VA with occasional telecommute or travel opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Physics.
- Programming Experience: Experience with and proficiency in at least one of the following Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) languages: C/C++, C# (C Sharp), Java, or Python.
- Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance (at a minimum, must receive/be approved for an interim Secret security clearance in order to start). Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a SECRET Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- C++, Python, or Java experience.
- Any DOD experience in programs or operations.
Compensation Details:
Salary Range: $65,000 to $85,000
