Job Description
Position: Entry-Level Data Center Cabling Technician
We are seeking motivated Entry-Level Data Center Cabling Technicians to support large-scale data center operations across Northern Virginia. This role offers hands-on exposure to multiple technical functions within a data center environment, including structured cabling, fiber installation, racking/stacking of equipment, and eventually basic networking tasks as your experience grows. Responsibilities
Structured Cabling & Fiber
- Interpret Cable Maps & Labels: Read and understand complex cable maps, adhere to labeling standards, and follow documentation to ensure precise routing and installation of cabling.
- Fiber Installation: Perform pulling, routing, staging, and dressing of large-count fiber trunks (144-count and 288-count). Install and manage fiber patch cords with high attention to detail.
- Cable Dressing & Pathway Management: Properly dress, secure, and route all cabling in accordance with site standards, utilizing various pathway systems such as basket tray and fiber runner.
Rack & Stack / Data Center Hardware
- Equipment Installation: Install, secure, and meticulously organize server and network equipment within racks and cabinets.
- Standard Compliance: Follow all industry and site standards to ensure clean, structured, and compliant rack builds.
- Deployment Support: Assist with server and rack deployment activities across multiple data center locations.
General Data Center Support
- Multi-Site Operations: Flexibly move between multiple job sites within Northern Virginia based on daily operational needs.
- Environment Adaptation: Support work in both post-construction ISP (Internet Service Provider) environments and live, operational data centers.
- Documentation Adherence: Consistently follow all technical documentation, established standards, and quality expectations.
Qualifications
Required Skills & Experience
- Experience: Minimum of 6+ months of experience in data center cabling or commercial structured cabling.
- Fiber Expertise: Hands-on experience working with fiber installation, including large-count trunks and patching.
- Technical Acumen: Ability to read and accurately follow technical documentation and labeling standards.
- Environment Familiarity: Familiarity with data center or telecommunications environments.
- Workmanship: Strong attention to detail and a commitment to professional, high-quality workmanship.
- Availability: Ability and willingness to work days, nights, and weekends as operational needs dictate.
- Mobility: Comfortable traveling between multiple job sites within Northern Virginia (NOVA).
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Exposure to server hardware, racks, and network equipment installations.
- Demonstrated interest in learning networking fundamentals as career progresses.
- Experience in post-construction environments or ISP backbone work.

- Job Type: Contract to Hire position.
- Location: Fully onsite in Chantilly, VA.
Pay and Benefits
- Pay Range: $22.00 – $24.00/hr.
