Entry-Level Accountant | CFS

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at CFS, located in Houston, TX. CFS operates within a multi-entity business environment, providing extensive exposure to various accounting functions. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity for recent accounting graduates or early-career professionals to launch their career and gain hands-on experience supporting day-to-day financial operations. Joining this role allows individuals to build a strong foundation across general accounting and financial reporting, work alongside experienced accounting professionals to develop technical skills, and pursue long-term professional growth and advancement within the company.

What You’ll Actually Do
• General Accounting: Assist with day-to-day general accounting activities and financial transactions to ensure smooth financial operations.
• Financial Close: Prepare and post journal entries, and actively support month-end close activities to meet reporting deadlines.
• Reconciliation: Perform thorough account and bank reconciliations, researching and resolving any discrepancies identified.
• Transaction Processing: Provide support for accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed, including invoice processing and expense tracking.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate accounting records and all supporting documentation to ensure compliance and audit readiness.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required. This role is ideal for a recent accounting graduate or an early-career professional.
• Experience: Candidates should have a foundational understanding of accounting principles, derived from recent graduation or 1-3 years of practical accounting experience.
• Skills:
1. General accounting principles: Possess a solid understanding of fundamental accounting concepts and practices.
2. Financial transaction processing: Ability to accurately assist with the recording and tracking of financial transactions.
3. Account reconciliation methods: Proficiency in performing detailed account and bank reconciliations to identify and resolve variances.
4. Journal entry preparation: Competence in preparing and posting journal entries for various financial activities.
5. Financial reporting support: Capability to assist in the compilation and review of financial reports and schedules.
