Engineering Intern – Secure Design | Walter P Moore

This internship offers students the opportunity to expand their structural engineering education by participating on project teams for diverse architectural projects within the Secure Design practice.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Contribute to project teams: Participate actively as a member of project teams within the Secure Design practice, applying foundational structural engineering knowledge.
• Design for diverse sectors: Engage in the structural design process for a wide range of architectural projects, including commercial, sports, healthcare, and public assembly buildings.
• Advance structural knowledge: Expand your understanding and practical application of structural engineering principles through direct involvement in project work.
• Develop professional skills: Be eligible to participate in Walter P Moore’s in-house staff development program, fostering continuous learning and growth.
• Address design challenges: Leverage your sound technical background and enthusiasm to help solve the unique challenges involved in designing great structures.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Candidate must be a well-prepared student from a top engineering school, currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, having completed a minimum of 24 hours of engineering coursework towards the degree. Additionally, candidates should be accepted into or plan to apply for a graduate program in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis.
• Experience: While no specific years of professional experience are required, a sound technical background relevant to structural engineering is essential.
• Skills: Possess strong communication skills, including excellent verbal and written abilities, coupled with enthusiasm for tackling the intricate challenges involved in designing great structures.
• Bonus: Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is preferred for this role.
