The Nestlé Purina team in Flagstaff, Arizona, is nestled at 7,000 feet, surrounded by the San Francisco Peaks. This scenic city remains an important distribution site for large manufacturers. Just a stone’s throw from downtown, the Flagstaff factory offers the best of both worlds: city culture and mountain beauty. Annually, the team proudly mass manufactures 280,000 tons of dry pet food from popular brands like Dog Chow®, Beneful®, Nestlé Purina ONE®, Alpo®, and Pro Plan®. The factory is also committed to environmental stewardship, actively conserving water, investing in renewable electricity, and maintaining zero waste for disposal.
Position: Engineering Intern
If you are working toward a career in Engineering, this is an exciting internship opportunity with Nestlé Purina in Flagstaff, Arizona. You will learn from an expert Engineering team while gaining valuable real-world experience in a highly automated and complex pet food manufacturing facility. Whether your focus is mechanical, process, electrical, and/or project engineering, this internship will challenge you to expand your skillset and make a genuine impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare specifications and develop bid scopes for contractors.
- Develop estimates and source equipment for projects.
- Create design solutions to address areas of opportunity in accordance with engineering standards pertaining to safety, sanitation, and production impact.
- Assist in supervising contractors and maintenance personnel on capital upgrades and projects.
- Contribute to team effort by engaging in Nestlé Continuous Excellence (NCE) activities to drive results.
- Engage in a safe and healthy work environment.
Requirements:
- Must be a college student of Engineering who is preferably entering senior year in the Fall of 2026.
- Must be available to sustain up to a one-year internship commitment (Spring 2026 to Spring 2027).
Other Details:
- Must be available to work approximately 20 hours per week on-site at the Flagstaff manufacturing facility.
- Experience with AutoCAD is preferred but not required.
Compensation & Benefits:
The approximate hourly pay for this position is $28.01. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as the geographic location of the position.
