Job description
The Engineering Intern at Mountaire Farms will gain hands-on experience in capital projects within a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Interns will tackle real-world engineering challenges, learning the process of project development, budgeting, and execution from initial concept through to completion. Projects will be customized to align with the intern’s major and career interests, ensuring meaningful contributions to Mountaire’s operations.
Project Highlights:
• Lead a capital project, with the opportunity to submit it for funding by the end of the internship.
• Shadow engineers during construction and implementation phases to gain insight into project execution and real-time problem-solving.
• Assist with project scheduling, resource planning, and cost tracking, learning how to manage timelines and budgets effectively.
• Support design tasks, potentially including drafting layouts, evaluating equipment specifications, or creating process improvements.
• Gain exposure to cross-functional collaboration by working with operations, maintenance, and leadership teams.
• Build professional experience through tangible projects that improve Mountaire’s operations and add value to the company.
Qualifications:
• Must be currently enrolled and pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree at an accredited college or university.
• Valid Driver’s license.
• Must pass the Mountaire Motor Vehicle Record check.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Will be required to visit construction sites, climb ladders, and participate in inspections.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Demonstrated project management skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within teams.
Internship Program Requirements:
• Complete an assigned project identified by a department mentor.
• Attend weekly seminar series conducted across different Mountaire facilities.
• Other duties as assigned.
• All interns must be available to travel to Delaware during the last week of the program (August 3 to 7, 2026) for final presentations.
• All interns are required to complete a 10-minute presentation on their project at the conclusion of summer. Presentations will take place in Millsboro, DE, at the Administrative Building during the week of August 3rd-7th.
• The anticipated weekly schedule for this internship is 8am – 5pm.
• Housing is available upon request.
