The Tone:
This is a temporary co-op position at Sylvamo, located in Eastover, SC. Sylvamo is a major pulp and paper producer, focused on sustaining forests and renewing ecosystems while delivering on the promise of paper. This role is crucial for developing the next generation of skilled Electrical & Instrumentation Technician Assistants, preparing students for industrial employment and contributing to the mill’s operational efficiency. • Mission: Assist in performing routine and independent electrical and instrumentation maintenance to ensure the reliable operation of mill systems.
• Tech Stack: DCS, PLC, Electric drive, Process Control and Instrumentation, power distribution systems, Robotics
What You’ll Actually Do
• Assist: Support Journeyman-level E&I Technicians with their routine maintenance work.
• Execute: Perform various electrical and instrumentation maintenance duties independently.
• Repair: Troubleshoot and repair electrical circuits, PLC systems, electric drives, and lighting fixtures.
• Install: Conduct the installation of conduit and wiring for electrical systems.
• Calibrate: Calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair instrumentation and control valves within the mill.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Actively enrolled in an Electrical-Instrumentation Technology curriculum or an equivalent, recognized Electrical & Instrumentation Technology Program.
• Experience: Not specified; however, enrollment in a relevant curriculum is a minimum qualification.
• Skills: Knowledge of DCS, PLC, Electric drive, Process Control and Instrumentation, power distribution systems, Robotics, and Industrial Safety.
• Bonus: Working experience in a team-based environment and demonstrated troubleshooting skills while operating in a team environment.
