Electrical Engineer
Actalent is seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to join their team in South Florida. This is a contract-to-hire position based in Fort Lauderdale, FL, offering a salary range of $40.00 – $48.08/hr. The role is primarily onsite (4 days a week in the Ft. Lauderdale office, with Fridays optional for remote work), with occasional meetings in the Tri-County Area.

Job Summary
The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and reviewing power systems, including electrical schematics and load calculations, specifically for municipal water and wastewater system-related projects. The role requires expertise in both medium and low voltage power distribution systems, lighting, and grounding systems.
Responsibilities
- Prepare technical documents, system modeling, and oversee construction projects.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Provide innovative solutions tailored to client needs.
- Function as the Designer/Project Engineer on projects involving medium and low voltage power distribution systems, lighting systems, and grounding systems for Municipal Water and Wastewater facilities and Industrial Projects.
- Develop design details for electrical power distribution system (480V level), lighting system, and control system for major industrial facilities.
- Perform system calculations and studies for electrical power systems, including load flows, voltage drops, and short circuit/coordination studies using electrical analytical software such as E-Tap/SKM Tools.
- Coordinate with CAD Drafters to create new or modify existing drawings.
- Perform field investigation and condition assessment of electrical power distribution and control equipment.
- Contribute to enhancing project efficiency and executing cost-effective strategies for impactful results.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
- Experience: 1+ years of design and engineering experience for industrial or large complex commercial projects.
- Technical Expertise:
- Experience with electrical power distribution, control equipment, and condition assessment.
- Proven expertise in power system design, electrical schematics, and system analysis.
- Proficiency in industry-relevant software, tools, and system modeling applications (e.g., E-Tap/SKM Tools for load flows, voltage drops, short circuit/coordination studies).
- Software Proficiency: Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, and Excel software.
Additional Skills & Qualifications (Preferred)
- Industry Experience: Water/Wastewater experience.
- Knowledge: Working knowledge of standards and codes pertaining to electrical distribution and control systems.
- Instrumentation: Preliminary knowledge of instrumentation devices (level/pressure/temp/flow).
- Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Language: Bilingual (English/Spanish).
- Problem-Solving: Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) license or commitment to obtaining one.
Work Environment
