The Tone:
This is a contract-to-hire position with Actalent, located in Warrenville, IL, in the Chicago suburbs. Actalent is assisting a consulting firm that specializes in civil and structural engineering, environmental science, and surveying across Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin. As a Civil Engineer, you will be integral to the planning, design, and construction phases of various park district projects. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with diverse teams and contribute directly to impactful community infrastructure throughout the region.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Support: Assist in the planning, design, and construction of diverse park district projects, encompassing small parks, trails, playgrounds, bathrooms, and general site development.
• Design Documentation: Prepare essential engineering drawings, detailed grading plans, accurate stormwater calculations, and comprehensive cost estimates for projects.
• CAD Design: Develop ADA-compliant grading plans and precisely extract design geometry provided by landscape architects, utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Regulatory Compliance: Facilitate the submission of permit applications, formulate responses to agency comments, and provide necessary clarifications during construction, including RFIs.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate effectively with various project stakeholders, including landscape architects, project managers, city officials, and contractors, ensuring smooth communication throughout the project lifecycle.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• Experience: At least 2 years of experience in a consulting engineering environment is preferred; internship experience is highly valued.
• Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
