EHS Department Support (Student) | MRIGlobal

The Tone:
This is a student internship at MRIGlobal, located in Kansas City, MO. MRIGlobal is an independent scientific research organization that solves challenging problems through science, engineering, and program management. This role supports the Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) department, contributing directly to these core values by assisting with departmental operations and allowing scientific staff to remain focused on critical project work.

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Location: Kansas City, MO
• Pay: $19–$21 hourly
• Team: Reports to EHS department leadership and may receive direction from other staff within the department.
• Mission: This person supports the EHS department’s daily administrative functions and operational tasks, including critical data entry and the implementation of a new chemical tracking database, which is vital for maintaining a safe and healthy environment across the organization’s operations.
• Tech Stack: New laboratory chemical inventory tracking database

What You’ll Actually Do
• Administrative Support: Provide administrative and operational assistance to EHS staff.
• Data Entry: Enter and maintain laboratory chemical inventory information in a new chemical tracking database.
• Records Organization: Organize departmental information, records, and documentation.
• Collaboration: Effectively communicate and work with EHS staff and other internal and external stakeholders in a team-based environment.
• Task Management: Demonstrate flexibility in adjusting priorities while completing assigned tasks accurately and efficiently.

The Must-Haves
• Background: College student pursuing a degree in environmental science, occupational safety, health sciences, chemistry, biology, or a related field.
• Experience: This student role requires the ability to work onsite at our Kansas City headquarters and does not have specific prior professional experience requirements.
• Skills: Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; ability to handle multiple tasks, work within and meet deadlines, pay attention to detail; proficient computer skills with the ability to learn new software and systems; ability to work both independently and as a team member.
