What You’ll Actually Do
• Rigorously verify content: Conduct extensive fact-checking to ensure the absolute accuracy of all content published in both print and online editions of Milwaukee Magazine, upholding journalistic integrity.
• Create compelling content: Write articles and features for Milwaukee Magazine’s print editions and its milwaukeemag.com website, demonstrating a knack for telling engaging stories about Milwaukee for its readership of over 200,000.
• Engage in research projects: Participate actively in larger research projects, gathering necessary information and context to support comprehensive editorial pieces.
• Contribute to editorial direction: Join brainstorming sessions, offering ideas and insights to help shape the magazine’s overall editorial strategy and future content.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Early Career Journalist who is currently enrolled in a college program and is eligible to receive academic credit for this internship. This is a part-time unpaid position, and the ability to fulfill a college credit requirement is mandatory for all applicants.
• Experience: Prior experience working in a journalistic environment is required, whether through professional roles or student publications. Interns will work approximately 15-20 hours per week on a hybrid schedule. This role offers the opportunity to hone and expand skills, following in the footsteps of many successful former interns who have moved into full-time roles or become freelance contributors.
• Skills: A crucial ability to meticulously verify facts and not assume their correctness, ensuring high standards of accuracy. Proficiency in AP Style is also expected for all written content.
