Editorial Internship (Fall Semester) | Resources for the Future
The Tone:
This is an internship at Resources for the Future, located in Washington, DC. Resources for the Future is an independent, nonprofit research institution dedicated to improving environmental, energy, and natural resource decisions through impartial economic research and policy engagement. This role is crucial for our communications team, as it supports the creation and promotion of accessible content across our podcast, blog, and magazine, contributing to our mission. The intern will play a key part in translating complex information into compelling editorial pieces for a broad audience.

• Team: Communications team, reporting to the editorial team
• Mission: This intern will support the editorial team in creating and promoting accessible content across RFF’s platforms, contributing to data-driven communications decisions.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Teams, Microsoft 365, Google Drive, Asana, Adobe Creative Cloud, podcast production software
What You’ll Actually Do
• Podcast Promotion: Provide assistance with the promotion of the *Resources Radio* podcast.
• Content Translation: Translate technical information into accessible and compelling editorial content for various platforms.
• Writing and Proofing: Proofread editorial content, pitch article ideas, and write for the *On the Issues* biweekly newsletter and potentially the *Common Resources* blog.
• Website Management: Assist with website updates, maintenance, and photo selection for Resources.org.
• Metrics Tracking: Track data and metrics for editorial products to gauge the success of communications initiatives and contribute to data-driven decisions.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Student with academic, research, or professional background in economics, environmental policy, journalism, writing, communications, environmental science, or political science.
• Experience: Beneficial experience using project management tools such as Microsoft Teams, Microsoft 365, Google Drive, or Asana.
• Skills: Strong organizational and project management skills; excellent communication skills and a desire to work as part of a collaborative team; ability to work independently, take initiative, and ask for help; interest in economics, energy, and environmental issues and policy.
• Bonus: Interest and skills with Adobe Creative Cloud software, graphic design, photography, illustration, or podcast production software.
