What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Engineering: Work within the dedicated mine waste team to perform a variety of civil and geotechnical engineering tasks, including site and material characterization, facility design (encompassing grading, storage capacity, and construction quantity evaluations), and in-depth analyses such as slope stability, seepage, consolidation, liner system integrity, and settlement.
• Design Support: Assist in the development of complete project design packages, which include technical drawings, specifications, engineering calculations, project schedules, and cost estimates for diverse facilities, including surface water management.
• Report Preparation: Prepare distinct portions of comprehensive technical reports, meticulously documenting detailed field and laboratory investigations, intricate engineering analyses, and facility designs.
• Field Assignments: Undertake domestic and international field assignments, which may involve conducting thorough geotechnical investigations and providing essential construction monitoring activities.
• Documentation & Compliance: Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation utilizing electronic systems, technical drawings, and detailed field/work site notebooks/logs, while strictly complying with all safety guidelines and site-specific procedures.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Experience: 0 to 1 years of relevant post-education experience; successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, or the demonstrable ability to complete the exam within 6 months of the start date.
• Skills: Excellent research skills coupled with a strong analytical mindset; competent interpersonal and communication skills for effective and professional interaction; proficient self-leadership, exhibiting strong attention to detail, ability to multi-task, and effective prioritization of responsibilities; basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation software, spreadsheets, and various technology and tools.
• Bonus: Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification; Master’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, or a relevant field of study; prior internship experience related to the degree of study and the specific engineering discipline; membership and/or active participation in local professional practice organizations.
