Readiness Coordinator | FirstEnergy
The Tone:
This is an open position with FirstEnergy Pennsylvania Electric Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp., located in York, PA. FirstEnergy operates as an electric utility, providing power distribution and related services. This role is crucial for supporting Distribution Line Operations Management by ensuring all jobs are ready for execution, thereby enhancing efficiency and minimizing safety risks in the field.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Job Readiness Coordination: Pre-inspect jobs to confirm overall readiness and minimize safety exposures in the field before dispatch.
• Operational Support: Provide reliable support to supervision by planning and scheduling activities, managing work queues, staffing, equipment, materials, tools, and necessary documentation.
• Safety Assurance: Physically visit jobs to determine readiness, utilize critical control checklists, and identify/mitigate safety exposures for employees and the public.
• Stakeholder Communication: Interact with internal/external customers, property owners, architects, and engineers regarding construction, maintenance activities, and job readiness inquiries.
• Pre-Work Assessment: Perform field investigations to gather information for job execution, conduct pre-work request assessments, and ensure utility locates are completed.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology or a related discipline, or a minimum of 3 years of related work experience. Related experience includes knowledge of construction and maintenance practices, procedures, work methods, materials, equipment, and tools used to determine resources for work activities.
• Experience: 1-2 years of related work experience with a Bachelor’s degree (or 3+ years without), demonstrating current knowledge of the National Electric Safety Code (NESC), National Electric Code (NEC), Customer Guide for Electric Service (CGES), and the Company’s Accident Prevention Handbook and Manual of Operations.
• Skills: Ability to interpret work requests, engineering drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals; working knowledge of electrical distribution systems, construction methods, and maintenance practices; proficiency in developing, collecting, organizing, and analyzing information for reports; solid verbal and written communication skills; and experience with PC software applications including Microsoft Office and specialized utility software like SAP, GIS, CREWS, Click, and CAD.
