Director, Group Head – Entertainment Finance Credit Underwriting and Portfolio Management | Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, located in a hybrid capacity, working at an MUFG office or client sites four days per week and remotely one day. This Director will lead a senior credit team, taking ownership of credit integrity, underwriting standards, and portfolio health for the critical Entertainment Finance vertical, contributing to the vision of being the world’s most trusted financial group.

• Mission: Own the credit integrity, underwriting standards, and portfolio health of MUFG’s Entertainment Finance vertical.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Lead Credit Oversight: Provide senior-level credit oversight and approval for complex entertainment finance transactions, developing and analyzing financing structures for film/TV production, music library, digital media, and corporate finance.
• Drive Portfolio Management: Maintain comprehensive oversight of the entertainment finance leveraged loan portfolio, monitoring credit quality changes, covenant compliance, due diligence rigor, and managing any deterioration.
• Cultivate Partnerships: Serve as a senior credit partner to Global Relationship Management, the Head of Entertainment Finance, and Product Partners, providing portfolio-level credit insight and maintaining industry relationships.
• Develop Talent: Lead direct supervision of the Entertainment Finance Portfolio Management team, including hiring, performance management, coaching, and professional development of Portfolio Managers and support staff.
• Ensure Policy Adherence: Coordinate with the Credit Division, Structured Finance Credit Office, and International Credit Division to ensure timely transaction review, approval, and adherence to MUFG’s credit policies and regulatory expectations.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree required, with a Director-level career demonstrating progressive credit and portfolio management experience in corporate banking.
• Experience: Minimum of 12 to 15 years in credit and portfolio management, including meaningful exposure to complex, leveraged, or structured lending, plus at least 5 years of team management experience.
• Skills: Strong command of credit fundamentals (underwriting, risk rating methodologies, covenant compliance), expertise in entertainment/media/IP-backed finance (film/TV production, music library/royalty finance), and ability to assess complex capital structures and industry risk.
• Bonus: Advanced degree such as an MBA or CFA, completion of a formal credit training program (money center bank background preferred), established network within the entertainment finance banking community, and familiarity with third-party valuation methodologies for entertainment assets.
