Director, Corporate Development | Devon Energy

• Mission: Lead enterprise-level financial analysis and deal execution for upstream M&A and A&D transactions, building and owning the analytical infrastructure that underpins investment decision-making.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Modeling: Lead all financial modeling and valuation work for upstream M&A and A&D transactions, developing and refining best-in-class DCF, NAV, and comparable frameworks.
• Infrastructure Management: Establish and govern the team’s financial infrastructure, including transaction and trading comps, and standardized model templates, ensuring analytical consistency.
• Team Leadership: Build, lead, and develop junior finance professionals within Corporate Development, providing modeling guidance, direct deal exposure, and career support.
• Due Diligence: Lead financial due diligence on active transactions, synthesizing technical, commercial, and financial inputs from internal and external sources into investment-ready analysis.
• Executive Presentation: Prepare and present investment committee and Executive Committee materials, including Board-ready analyses, summarizing deal rationale, valuation, and strategic fit to senior leadership.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related discipline, with a focus on corporate development and M&A leadership.
• Experience: +10 years of relevant experience in investment banking (upstream energy coverage) or a combination of banking and corporate M&A/A&D experience.
• Skills: Financial Modeling, Mergers & Acquisitions, Valuation, Capital Markets, Due Diligence.
• Bonus: MBA preferred; Houston energy banking experience strongly preferred; prior exposure to domestic upstream transactions is essential; international or new venture transaction experience is a plus.
