Director, Business Management, Advisory | BMO Financial Group

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at BMO Financial Group, located in Ontario, Canada. BMO Insurance is undergoing a significant transformation of its Advisory business to accelerate growth, expand distribution, and modernize advisor experiences. This role is pivotal in driving the strategic roadmap by ensuring alignment between strategy and execution and integrating operational discipline across a quickly evolving organization. The Director will help the Advisory leadership team focus on high-value priorities and accelerate the delivery of strategic outcomes.

• Team: Advisory leadership team, reporting to the SVP & Head of Advisory.
• Mission: Integrate structure, governance, analytics, planning, and execution discipline to ensure the Advisory business effectively executes against its strategic objectives.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Strategic Planning: Partner with the SVP and Advisory Leadership Team to develop, refine, and operationalize the Advisory strategic plan, leading annual planning, quarterly business reviews, and strategic priority management. This includes maintaining an integrated view of all key initiatives, dependencies, risks, and outcomes across the business.
• Performance Management: Develop and oversee the Advisory business scorecard, encompassing growth, distribution, advisor experience, productivity, financial, and operational metrics. You will lead executive reporting and performance management processes, translating business data into actionable insights and recommendations.
• Leadership Support: Act as a trusted advisor to the SVP & Head of Advisory, driving the effectiveness of leadership forums, operating reviews, and executive planning sessions. This ensures alignment across leaders and functions to achieve enterprise and business objectives, also supporting organizational design and workforce planning.
• Governance & Risk: Establish governance processes that ensure transparency, accountability, and timely decision-making. You will coordinate executive-level reporting, regulatory updates, risk oversight, and management attestations, identifying emerging risks and organizational bottlenecks to bring forward recommendations.
• Executive Communications: Lead the development of leadership communications, strategic presentations, board and executive materials, and town halls, ensuring consistent messaging and alignment across the Advisory organization. This involves translating complex strategic topics into concise and actionable executive communications and supporting preparation for senior leadership meetings.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Director-level experience, with 7+ years in strategy, business management, consulting, transformation, corporate development, sales enablement, or related leadership roles. Preference for experience in insurance, wealth management, or financial services.
• Experience: Proven success supporting senior executives and leading cross-functional strategic initiatives. Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders without direct authority and experience operating effectively in highly matrixed organizations.
• Skills: Exceptional executive communication and presentation skills, strong analytical capability with experience building executive reporting and performance frameworks, and strong business acumen with the ability to connect strategy, operations, client experience, and financial performance.
• Bonus: Experience supporting business transformation, organizational design, or operating model implementation as the business grows.
