Design I | Marolina Outdoor, Inc.

The Tone:
This is an on-site role at Marolina Outdoor, Inc., located in Charleston, South Carolina, and is not eligible for hybrid or remote work. The company designs high-performance fishing and hunting apparel through its brands, Huk and Nomad, for individuals passionate about the outdoors. This Design I role is an entry-level position that supports the entire seasonal design process, ensuring innovative apparel moves from concept to production. The individual will also provide essential administrative and organizational support, contributing significantly to the smooth operation of the design pipeline.

• Mission: Contributes to the seasonal design process for performance apparel, from initial concept to production, while providing essential administrative and organizational support.
• Tech Stack: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign (a plus), PLM or product management systems, Adobe Creative Cloud libraries, AI enabled design

What You’ll Actually Do
• Design: Assist in designing performance apparel across fishing and hunting product lines, including base layers, mid layers, outerwear, and technical bottoms.
• Development: Develop detailed tech packs, flat sketches, and construction specifications for production.
• Collaboration: Participate in fit sessions and proto reviews, documenting feedback and communicating changes clearly to vendors and internal stakeholders.
• Organization: Maintain accurate and up-to-date product development files, design libraries, and sample tracking logs.
• Coordination: Coordinate sample requests, track sample status, and communicate with vendors on timelines under direction from the Senior Designer.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, Textile Design, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience: 0-2 years of professional experience in apparel design, with internship experience in performance or outdoor apparel being strongly valued. Experience with or exposure to PLM or product management systems, AI enabled design and workflows, and tech pack development.
• Skills: Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, understanding of garment construction, pattern-making fundamentals, and performance fabrication. Highly organized with strong attention to detail, clear written and verbal communication skills, and comfort working collaboratively.
• Bonus: Comfort with InDesign; a personal interest in fishing, hunting, and other outdoor pursuits.
