Job Description:
Tutor Perini Corporation is seeking a Data Security & Categorization Intern to work in their Henderson, NV office. This is a hands-on internship focusing on data security and compliance initiatives, specifically reviewing and categorizing sensitive data (PII, FCI, CUI) identified within the Varonis system. The intern will work approximately 30 hours per week with estimated compensation is $15-$20 hourly.
Key Responsibilities:
• Systematically review files flagged by Varonis for potential sensitive information.
• Examine file content to accurately identify the presence and type of sensitive data.
• Use Varonis to apply correct data tags and categories to files.
• Assess file access permissions, identifying overly broad access (“everyone” access).
• Document review progress, categorization results, and identified permission issues.
• Provide feedback and recommendations on data categorization guidelines.
• Assist with other related data security and compliance tasks.
Requirements:
• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information responsibly.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
• Familiarity with data security concepts and data classification principles.
• Basic understanding of file permissions and access controls.
• Exposure to data security platforms or tools like Varonis (or similar).
