Internship Program: Data Science/Analytics

HealthEdge is excited to offer a structured, paid 12-week virtual internship program designed to immerse you in meaningful and strategic project work. This program provides a unique opportunity to drive real impact for our teams, customers, and business, all while fostering a fun and collaborative environment.

As an intern, you will primarily support our Product team, gaining valuable experience in a dynamic sector. Beyond your core responsibilities, you’ll also be exposed to various departments and strategic initiatives through our weekly “Discover HealthEdge” series. To further enhance your experience, interns will participate in a three-day Innovation Challenge and conclude the program with a final project presentation, showcasing the significant impact you’ve made. Additionally, we are committed to your professional development, offering workshops focused on essential career skills such as resume writing, LinkedIn profile optimization, and interview preparation.

Your Impact

During your internship, you will play a crucial role in our data initiatives, with responsibilities including:

  • Analyze, clean, and visualize healthcare datasets to provide critical insights, particularly supporting Medicare Advantage and risk-adjustment strategies.
  • Apply introductory data science techniques to explore complex data patterns, identify anomalies, and support robust analytical outputs.
  • Translate product and regulatory needs into measurable data elements, crafting simple yet effective analytical summaries.
  • Solve real-world data challenges by preparing datasets, actively improving data quality, and supporting the creation of insightful dashboards and metrics.

What You Bring

We are looking for motivated individuals who possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a closely related quantitative major.
  • Demonstrable experience with Machine Learning (ML), Large Language Models (LLMs), and Natural Language Processing (NLP) tools.
  • A self-starter mentality, eager to take initiative and drive projects forward independently.
  • Confident and accountable in your work, taking ownership of tasks and results.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of articulating complex data concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
  • A naturally data-driven approach to problem-solving and decision-making.

Work Environment & Logistics

  • Geographic Responsibility: While HealthEdge’s main presence is in Boston, MA, this is a fully virtual internship, allowing you to live anywhere within the US.
  • Type of Employment: Internship
  • Work Environment: The role requires working across multiple time zones in a remote setting. Expect long periods of time sitting and/or standing in front of a computer, utilizing video conferencing technology.

Compensation

The hourly pay for this position is $25/hour.
