What You’ll Actually Do
• Ensure Compliance: Classify dutiable import/export shipments to meet all government agency rules and regulations.
• Process Entries: Handle all requests for extensions, expirations, cancellations, and governmental entries for customs clearance.
• Calculate Duties: Compute tariffs (taxes) and convert prices for merchandise imported from foreign destinations.
• Resolve Delays: Examine invoices, bills of lading, and shipping statements to obtain release of incoming freight and address any delays.
• Process Clearances: Utilize various online portals for submission to the FDA and US Customs to obtain proper clearance for shipments.
The Must-Haves
• Background: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Experience: Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge, including passing a criminal history records check, fingerprinting, and meeting all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), database and web-based applications.
• Skills: Good oral and written communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills; courteous and clear telephone voice. Must be detail-oriented, organized, possess time management skills, and be proficient on a 10 key calculator. Knowledge of US Customs Regulations regarding Foreign Trade Agreements and other duty exemptions is required.
• Bonus: Associate’s degree, 1 year of experience in transportation or customs.
