Internship – Hedge Funds Credit Risk | Societe Generale

The Tone:
This is an internship at Societe Generale, located in New York, NY. This role is essential for supporting the Hedge Fund Risk Group’s daily operations and for quickly developing an analyst capable of independently managing a portfolio of clients in credit risk.

The TL;DR

• Team: HF Risk Group, reporting to a Senior Analyst
• Mission: To support the Hedge Fund Risk Group in its daily activities and rapidly develop into an independent credit analyst.
• Tech Stack: Excel, Bloomberg APIs, Access Databases, VBA, Python

What You’ll Actually Do
• Due Diligence: Conduct and support due diligence meetings for Hedge Funds and Fund of Funds.
• Reporting: Prepare comprehensive due diligence reports and complete rating models.
• Collaboration: Contribute to the structuring of transactions by coordinating with legal, sales, and engineering groups.
• Credit Management: Manage client credit lines and transaction parameters.
• Portfolio Oversight: Monitor the credit portfolio and address any exceptions that arise.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Graduated with a degree in Finance from a Business/Engineering School or University.
• Experience: Experience in the financial industry is required, with a preference for prior experience with Hedge Funds. Previous experience in Investment Banking is appreciated.
• Skills: Strong analytical skills, financial analysis and financial statements expertise, extensive knowledge of Excel, and familiarity with databases and platforms including Bloomberg APIs and VBA.
• Bonus: Proficiency in Python is a plus.
