• Mission: To operate company vehicles to provide courteous and efficient delivery and pickup of packages, ensuring compliance with service standards.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Vehicle Operation: Drive and operate company vehicles safely and responsibly on assigned routes, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies while managing delivery and pickup schedules.
• Package Delivery & Pickup: Execute the delivery of packages to customers and perform efficient collection of outbound shipments, ensuring all interactions are professional and courteous.
• Shipment Conformance Checks: Inspect packages and shipments to verify they meet Federal Express Corporation’s specific features of service and quality standards before transport.
• Customer Service Engagement: Provide front-line customer service by addressing inquiries, resolving minor issues, and performing other related service functions during direct customer contact.
• Physical Package Handling: Utilize appropriate equipment and/or seek assistance to safely lift packages up to 50 lbs and maneuver packages exceeding 50 lbs, ensuring secure loading and unloading.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent to qualify for this position.
• Experience: Applicants must hold the appropriate driver’s license for the specific type of company vehicle they will be assigned to operate. Additionally, candidates are required to meet all qualifications as comprehensively outlined in section 391 of the Federal Motor Carrier safety regulations. A mandatory minimum age of 21 years is also required for this role.
• Skills: Demonstrated physical capability to lift packages weighing up to 50 lbs independently, and the ability to maneuver packages exceeding 50 lbs using suitable equipment or with assistance. Excellent human relations and verbal communication skills are essential for interacting with customers and colleagues. A neat and professional appearance is required due to direct customer contact. Furthermore, the ability to read and speak the English language proficiently is necessary to understand traffic signs, effectively communicate with traffic safety officials, and accurately respond to official inquiries and directions in accordance with FMCSA enforcement guidance. The role also demands a constant state of alertness and a commitment to performing all duties in a safe manner.
