Counter Sales Representative | Ferguson

This Counter Sales Representative role is crucial for directly assisting customers, guiding them to the right products, and maintaining an organized and efficient sales counter experience to make their complex projects simple, successful, and sustainable.

• Mission: Provide expert advice and efficient service to customers, ensuring accurate order processing and a well-maintained sales counter.
• Tech Stack: Order management system, cash registers, Microsoft Office applications.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Customer Guidance: Provide expert advice to customers, guiding them to the best products for their specific needs for diverse projects.
• Order Processing: Accurately process customer orders using our established order management system.
• Cash Handling: Operate cash registers efficiently and meticulously follow all established cash handling procedures.
• Merchandising: Maintain an inviting store appearance, uphold merchandising standards as advised, and ensure merchandise is promptly restocked and neatly organized in designated areas.
• Order Staging: Efficiently prepare and stage customer orders for pick-up, ensuring accuracy and readiness for customer collection.
• Safety & PPE: Actively promote and maintain a safe working environment, including the consistent use of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

The Must-Haves
• Background: This role primarily requires a strong ability and willingness to learn about new products and systems, which is a must-have for success.
• Experience: While 0-3 years of experience is preferred for this position, a strong learning aptitude is prioritized over extensive prior experience.
• Skills: General digital literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, is required. Candidates must possess solid general math skills for accurate cash accounting, along with excellent decision-making and communication skills to effectively assist customers. Additionally, the ability to lift, load, and potentially deliver merchandise is necessary.
• Bonus: Basic knowledge of specific products relevant to Ferguson’s diverse industries is preferred to quickly engage with customer needs.
