What You’ll Actually Do
• Customer Guidance: Provide expert advice and product knowledge to customers, guiding them effectively to the best supplies and solutions that precisely fit their specific project requirements.
• Order Processing: Efficiently and accurately process customer orders using Ferguson’s established order management system, ensuring all details are correctly recorded.
• Cash Handling: Operate cash registers precisely and adhere strictly to all established cash handling and transaction procedures, maintaining financial accuracy.
• Order Preparation: Diligently prepare and stage completed orders for prompt and organized customer pick-up, contributing to efficient service delivery.
• Store Maintenance: Maintain an organized, clean, and visually appealing store environment at all times, ensuring merchandising standards are consistently met and products are restocked in their designated areas.
The Must-Haves
• Background: This role is ideal for entry-level to early career professionals who possess a strong inherent ability and eagerness to learn, ready to grow their skills and career trajectory within a supportive environment at Ferguson.
• Experience: While not strictly mandatory, 0-3 years of prior experience in a customer service, retail, or sales-related setting is preferred, demonstrating foundational interaction skills.
• Skills: Required skills include general digital literacy, with proven proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; sound general math skills essential for accurate cash accounting and order calculations; and excellent decision-making and communication abilities to interact effectively with customers and team members.
• Bonus: Basic knowledge of products relevant to the plumbing, HVAC, or construction supply industries is considered a strong asset, though comprehensive product training will be provided.
