As a Cost Accountant, you will be instrumental in ensuring the accuracy of financial records, managing month-end close procedures, and analyzing account balances. Your work directly contributes to Veritiv’s financial integrity and informed decision-making across its global operations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Record Management: Maintain and update accurate financial records, including general ledger accounts, balance sheets, income statements, and assist with accounts payable and receivable processes like invoice processing, billing, and collections.
• Reporting & Compliance: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, reconcile various accounts for accuracy, and ensure compliance with accounting standards and tax regulations, meeting all reporting deadlines.
• Cost Accounting & Inventory Valuation: Establish and update standard costs for raw materials, direct labor, and manufacturing overhead, performing monthly inventory reconciliations for all stages (raw materials, work-in-progress, finished goods).
• Profitability Analysis & Cost Control: Evaluate product-by-product profitability to identify low-margin goods and cost-saving opportunities, generating and presenting weekly and monthly operational dashboards with clear commentary on manufacturing costs and performance.
• Operational Financial Support: Execute month-end close activities related to cost accounting, inventory, freight, and COGS, partnering with operations to ensure timely and accurate goods receipts, and processing miscellaneous billings and customer credits.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree (preferred). Career level: Entry-Level (1-3 years of experience). Domain: General ledger journal entries, month-end close procedures, and analyzing financial account balances for appropriateness.
• Experience: 1-3 years of related job experience, demonstrating the ability to manage multiple projects under pressure and adapt to changes in the work environment.
• Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, basic experience with simple office/operational systems, strong customer service skills, and the ability to work quickly and efficiently.
