Finance Analyst Intern – Foundations 2027 | Kiewit
The Tone:
This is an in-person internship at Kiewit, requiring relocation anywhere in the United States. Kiewit is a vast construction and engineering organization that builds across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, improving and connecting communities with every project. This role is vital for supporting project-level accounting and finance functions, where each project operates like a small business. As an integral part of the team, you will focus on critical tasks such as cost control, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, human capital management, and compliance, directly contributing to accurate financial reporting and operational success.

• Pay: $19–$23 hourly
• Team: Operational Finance Department within Kiewit Foundations Co., supporting a project Business Manager.
• Mission: Support project-specific accounting and finance related functions, ensuring accurate financial operations and reporting.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Pivot Tables, V-Look Ups
What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Financial Oversight: Support project accounting and finance operations by managing critical tasks such as cost control, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, human capital management, and compliance.
• Cost and Revenue Management: Execute processes and utilize tools to manage various cost and revenue components, including labor, construction equipment, materials, and subcontracts.
• Financial Reporting Support: Act as an integral part of the month-end close out process and assist with preparing comprehensive financial reporting packages for project management.
• Workflow & Internal Controls: Understand and master payroll, HR, purchasing, and accounts payable process workflows, troubleshooting payment or vendor issues and maintaining internal controls.
• Financial Data Accuracy: Review and adjust costs, quantity claiming, budget structure, and exception reports to ensure accurate reporting and proper recognition of cost and revenue for management.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Business Management, or an equivalent degree, with a minimum GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Experience: 0-2 years of financial/data analysis experience, along with working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Skills: Effective communication (both oral and written), strong organization, and interpersonal skills; good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Bonus: Experience working with Pivot Tables, V-Look Ups, and other key Excel functions; previous internship experience; a valid Driver’s License; positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and passion for continuous improvement.
