Corporate Vice President – Portfolio Construction & Markets Technology | New York Life Insurance Company

The Tone:
This is a full-time, hybrid role at New York Life Insurance Company, located in New York, NY. New York Life is leading an AI-driven transformation of Portfolio Management across its OCIO and NYLIM divisions. This position is crucial for integrating proprietary investment expertise, market intelligence, data, analytics, and AI to enhance enterprise-wide investment decision-making. The leader will fundamentally reshape how portfolio construction and market intelligence are delivered through technology.

• Pay: $185000–$264500 yearly
• Team: Reports to Rohit Katti, Executive Technology Leader
• Mission: Own the end-to-end technology strategy, architecture, and roadmap for the Portfolio Construction & Markets domain, enabling AI-led investment decision support.
• Tech Stack: APIs, cloud platforms, generative AI, agentic technologies.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Strategy Ownership: Own the end-to-end technology strategy and roadmap for Portfolio Construction & Markets, translating investment decision needs into scalable technology capabilities.
• AI Transformation: Reimagine investment workflows by integrating AI and agentic capabilities to increasingly research, synthesize, monitor, analyze, and recommend, augmenting investment professionals.
• Architecture & Data: Partner with solution engineering and data architects to define target-state architecture, authoritative data sources, and make consequential technology decisions across build, buy, and reuse.
• Team Leadership: Lead multidisciplinary outcome teams, comprising Product Owners, engineers, SMEs, and partners, while managing technology capacity and strategic partners.
• Executive Alignment: Partner directly with senior OCIO and NYLIM leaders to understand investment priorities, navigate requirements, and ensure security, compliance, and risk controls are integrated from inception.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Executive with 15+ years of progressively responsible experience in technology, software engineering, solution delivery, or investment technology, including significant leadership in complex enterprise environments.
• Experience: Proven success owning end-to-end technology capabilities from strategy through implementation and adoption; operating in federated or matrixed enterprises; leading multidisciplinary technology teams; and making consequential technology, architecture, and investment tradeoffs.
• Skills: Domain Technology Leadership, AI-Enabled Transformation, Executive Communication & Influence, Technology & Engineering Judgment, Talent & Partner Leadership.
• Bonus: Experience with asset management, institutional investments, insurance general account investments, or investment technology; familiarity with portfolio construction, asset allocation, investment research, or market data providers; experience applying AI, analytics, or automation to investment decision-making.
