Corporate Development Specialist | CHS Inc.

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at CHS Inc., located in Inver Grove Heights, MN. CHS Inc. is a leading global agribusiness owned by farmers, ranchers, and cooperatives, providing grain, food, and energy resources to businesses and consumers worldwide. This role is crucial within the Finance Group, enabling the company to achieve its strategic objectives by executing mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and capital investments. The Corporate Development Specialist will be integral to the entire transaction lifecycle, directly influencing CHS’s growth and market presence in agriculture.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Screen opportunities: Build complex financial models, conduct industry research, and collaborate with stakeholders to identify synergies, risks, and impacts of potential investments.
• Draft presentations: Prepare summaries of financial and strategic merits for business leaders, committees, executive leadership, and the board to inform investment recommendations and negotiation strategies.
• Facilitate due diligence: Manage and track efforts focused on risk identification, business integration, and separation, coordinating internal and external resources like legal counsel and investment bankers.
• Assist in negotiations: Help draft, review, and negotiate terms of definitive agreements and other transaction documents, including valuation adjustments and indemnity clauses.
• Improve processes: Contribute to the continuous enhancement of CHS’s transaction process to ensure consistent diligence quality, thorough evaluation of risks, and cost reduction.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• Experience: 2+ years in investment banking, private equity, corporate development, transaction advisory, or M&A and divestiture roles.
• Skills: Financial modeling, leadership of cross-functional due diligence teams, strong executive communication (verbal and written), self-motivation, attention to detail, strategic thinking, and advanced Excel proficiency (data management, complex formulas).
• Bonus: Knowledge and direct application of GAAP, experience in large-scale enterprise projects, building relationships across large organizations, leading cross-functional groups with conflicting priorities, managing multiple projects simultaneously, and industry experience in energy, agriculture, or other commodities businesses.
