Coordinator Graduate Center | California State University, Long Beach

The Tone:
This is a temporary position at California State University, Long Beach, located just three miles from the Pacific Ocean in Long Beach, CA. CSULB is dedicated to student success, innovation, and impactful academic and research initiatives for its over 42,000 students. This role is crucial for engaging and advising individuals seeking post-baccalaureate degrees and supporting vital graduate programming. The Coordinator makes a meaningful difference by guiding potential and current post-baccalaureate students through their academic journeys.

The TL;DR
• Role: Coordinator
• Type: Temporary, 1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week
• Location: In-person, Long Beach, CA
• Pay: $5,083–$7,228 per month
• Team: Graduate Center, reporting to the Dean of Graduate Studies
• Mission: To conduct outreach, advise individuals seeking post-baccalaureate degrees, and support graduate programming to positively impact students.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Student Advising: Offer comprehensive information on admission requirements, procedures, and general program completion for post-baccalaureate programs.
• Event Planning: Support the organization and promotion of Graduate Center events and programming.
• Outreach Activities: Attend on and off-campus fairs to promote graduate programs to prospective students.
• Program Management Support: Assist with the oversight and supervision of Graduate Center graduate assistants and student workers.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in one of the behavioral sciences, education, public or business administration, or a job-related field.
• Experience: Two years of professional experience in student services program areas, including required travel for graduate program fairs and student events.
• Skills: Commitment to serving diverse student populations, strong customer service skills, ability to prioritize multiple tasks, strong computer skills, and knowledge of graduate admission requirements and college career patterns.
• Bonus: Valid CA Driver’s License.
