Intern – Spring 2027 (Toledo) | Turner Construction Company
The Tone:
This is a temporary internship at Turner Construction Company, located in Toledo, OH. Turner Construction Company is a large organization focused on developing construction projects. This role provides an opportunity to build foundational knowledge across various aspects of construction management, business operations, project financial management, safety protocols, subcontractor relations, quality control, and project lifecycle coordination. The intern’s contributions are vital for supporting day-to-day project activities and gaining practical experience that applies academic learning to real-world construction scenarios.

• Mission: Assist in day-to-day supervised activities related to the development of a construction project to build foundational knowledge in construction management, business and project financial management, project safety protocols, subcontractor relationships, quality control, and project coordination and lifecycle.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Support: Coordinate project meetings, track materials, manage files, control documents, and prepare progress reports.
• Information Management: Collect and review information for shop drawings, submittals, and Requests for Information (RFIs), and assist with estimates for work changes.
• Site Observation: Attend project site visits to observe and document construction field activities, while complying with safety protocols.
• Communication & Scheduling: Conduct correspondence with architects, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors, and communicate with trades to track job schedules.
• Project Lifecycle Assistance: Support project start-up and close-out preparations, including quantity take-offs and studies for project items.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Current enrollment in an accredited college or university degree program (e.g., Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management) with at least one year of completed education. Must be 18 years of age.
• Experience: Academic experience applying classroom knowledge to practical activities in a construction-related field.
• Skills: Professional and clear verbal and written communication in English, exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail, ability to read and comprehend written information, proactive curiosity, and personal accountability.
• Bonus: Demonstrated interpersonal skills through student leadership, volunteerism, or community involvement, along with a desire to work in construction management and learn about the industry.
