Manager – Customer Due Diligence & Sanctions | Mashreq
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Mashreq Digital Bank Pakistan, located in Pakistan. Mashreq is establishing and enhancing its digital banking operations, making this role vital for maintaining regulatory compliance and financial integrity. The Manager will be instrumental in executing the bank’s Sanctions, KYC, and Name Screening frameworks, directly supporting the MLRO function and ensuring strict adherence to SBP AML/CFT/CPF Regulations and Mashreq Group standards. This position is critical for protecting the bank against financial crime risks and upholding its reputation.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Assess and Approve: Review and approve onboarding, periodic KYC reviews, trigger reviews, and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) assessments across Retail, HNWI, SME, and Business Banking customers.
• Screen and Escalate: Perform second-level review and disposition of Name Screening, Transaction Screening, and local list screening alerts, ensuring timely and appropriate escalation of potential sanctions matches or regulatory concerns.
• Advise and Support: Provide expert guidance and approval support to Business, Operations, and Compliance teams on KYC/CDD requirements, onboarding decisions, and sanctions screening matters.
• Ensure Quality and Compliance: Review and challenge investigations conducted by analysts to ensure completeness, accuracy, and regulatory compliance, and perform quality assurance reviews of KYC assessments.
• Mitigate Risk: Identify AML/CFT, sanctions, and customer due diligence risks, recommend appropriate mitigating controls, and support the implementation and enhancement of screening and risk assessment processes.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, Law, or a related discipline, with a core domain in AML/CFT Compliance, KYC/CDD, EDD, Customer Risk Assessment, and Sanctions Screening.
• Experience: Minimum 6–8 years of experience, with proven compliance expertise in reviewing and approving onboarding and periodic KYC reviews for Individual and SME/Business Banking customers.
• Skills: Strong analytical thinking and risk assessment capabilities, excellent decision-making skills, robust knowledge of SBP AML/CFT/CPF Regulations and international best practices, and hands-on experience with Name Screening, Transaction Screening, and case management systems.
• Bonus: ACAMS, CGSS, ICA, or equivalent AML/Sanctions certification preferred.
