About the Role
The Community Outreach Intern will join the team at the Anthony L. and Hideko S. Burgess Interactive Learning Center (ILC) at Operation Smile’s Global Headquarters. The ILC is an immersive exhibit allowing visitors to journey alongside those affected by cleft conditions, aiming to transform hearts and minds through programs centered on empathy, culture, medicine, geography, and leadership. This vital role supports community engagement initiatives and offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in community outreach, event planning, and public relations within a global nonprofit organization.

What You’ll Do
• Support in planning and attending community events and networking functions.
• Aid in crafting compelling content for social media, newsletters, and other communication platforms to highlight Operation Smile’s achievements and initiatives.
• Identify and research potential community partners, local organizations, and businesses for collaboration opportunities.
• Conduct outreach efforts and maintain detailed records of activities and engagement levels.
• Assist in analyzing data to evaluate the success of outreach endeavors and prepare reports as necessary.
• Collaborate with volunteers, offering guidance and resources for community outreach endeavors.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of social media platforms.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Role Highlights & Compensation
• This internship is unpaid.
• Requires a minimum commitment of 3 months with a weekly commitment of 15 hours (more if desired).
• Availability Monday – Friday; typically, between the hours of 9:00am to 5:00pm, with occasional availability after hours, as needed for events.
