Commission Specialist | Compass

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Compass, located in New York, NY with a hybrid work schedule. Compass is building an end-to-end platform to revolutionize the real estate industry, empowering residential real estate agents to deliver exceptional service. As a Commission Specialist, you will be an integral member of the Transaction Management team, ensuring accurate and timely financial operations for real estate closings across the New York and Connecticut markets. This position is critical for agent support, compliance, and maintaining the financial integrity of transactions.

• Mission: This person will reconcile and process commissions for sales, rental, and referral real estate closings, ensuring compliance and accurate payouts.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Transaction Tracking: Manage document tracking for a large volume of real estate transactions from listing to close, ensuring compliance with brokerage and legal requirements.
• Commission Processing: Process commission payments to agents, meticulously tracking referral payments and any agent deductions.
• System Validation: Navigate company systems to validate the accuracy of compliance and commission records for all transactions.
• Agent Support: Provide essential support to agents by responding to inquiries regarding commission payouts, deductions, and commission calculations.
• Financial Collaboration: Partner with the Accounting team to review, audit, and research commission inquiries that impact monthly financial statement closes.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor of Arts or Science degree, with core domain knowledge in real estate transaction-processing, accounting, finance, or payroll functions.
• Experience: 2+ years of experience in a relevant function, with a preference for real estate transaction-processing.
• Skills: Impeccable attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills, proficient in Excel and G-Suite platforms, and solid customer service instincts.
• Bonus: Demonstrated strong teamwork skills, ability to meet deadlines in a demanding environment, and comfort with new system rollouts.
