Commercial Internship Program – Summer 2027 | Capital One
The Tone:
This is a full-time paid internship program at Capital One, spanning ten weeks from June through August 2027. It requires in-person attendance at an assigned location within the continental United States, in accordance with Capital One’s hybrid working model. Capital One is a financial institution with a Commercial Banking group that manages a substantial $70 billion loan portfolio and serves over 6,100 clients. The Commercial Bank is an entrepreneurial team embracing bold ideas and fostering collaboration to deliver financial products, aspiring to be an industry leader by driving game-changing initiatives. This role is crucial for interns to help drive projects and transactions that accelerate the growth of the Commercial Bank, gaining hands-on experience and contributing directly to strategic business initiatives and client deliverables, while being evaluated for a full-time position within rotational programs.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Research: Conduct quantitative and qualitative financial projections and forecasting through company and market research.
• Optimization: Develop and execute business process optimization projects to enhance efficiency.
• Strategy: Analyze industry trends and macroeconomic factors to inform Bank strategy initiatives.
• Review: Review loan proposals and credit files for critical elements such as compliance, accuracy, and credit risk.
• Presentation: Create presentations to deliver project, deal, and financial updates to clients and leadership within the bank.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or higher, with an expected completion of the most recent full-time degree program by July 2028 or earlier. Candidates must continue in the same course of study following the internship. Preferred majors include Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or other relevant fields.
• Experience: No specific years of experience are required. However, familiarity with generative AI platforms and a demonstrated ability to use AI as a collaborator for research, drafting, and problem-solving is preferred.
• Skills: Strong quantitative, analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual abilities are essential. Candidates should possess exceptional interpersonal, verbal communication, and writing skills, alongside demonstrated leadership and team-oriented traits. Knowledge of general accounting and finance principles is also important.
