Job Description:

The position described is for a Combat Engineer within the Army National Guard. Combat Engineers are vital to mission success by assisting Soldiers in navigating challenging and unpredictable environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Construction: Designing and building bridges, roadways, secure perimeters, and tactical firing systems.
Demolitions: Placing and detonating explosives for construction and obstacle removal.
Route Clearance: Conducting operations to clear routes of obstacles, including mines, explosive hazards, and river obstacles, to ensure safe passage for other units.
Defensive Positions: Constructing fighting positions, obstacles, and other defensive structures.

Skills You Will Learn:

• Basic demolitions techniques.
• Identification and neutralization of explosive hazards.
• Construction of wire obstacles.
• Fixed bridge construction.
• Basic urban operations skills.
• Operation of heavy equipment.

Helpful Skills (But Not Required):

• Ability to use hand and power tools.
• Ability to perform strenuous physical activities for extended periods.
• Interest in engineering principles.
• Enjoyment of working outdoors.

Training and Compensation:

Earn While You Learn: Soldiers are paid to train and are eligible for tuition assistance.
Basic Training: 10 weeks, focusing on basic Soldiering skills.
Advanced Individual Training (AIT): 14 weeks, focusing on specific Combat Engineer skills.
On-the-Job Training: Primarily hands-on experience on a variety of construction projects.
