Cloud Enterprise architect | KBR

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at KBR, located in Chantilly, VA and Reston, VA. KBR’s work is at the forefront of engineering, logistics, operations, science, program management, mission IT, and cybersecurity solutions. This position is pivotal in designing and optimizing defense systems, ensuring national security, and shaping the future of space defense. The role directly supports mission effectiveness, scalability, and long-term technology planning in a highly classified environment.

• Mission: This person provides enterprise-level cloud architecture guidance across mission systems, ensuring architectural consistency, interoperability, and compliance across a portfolio of cloud solutions supporting national security objectives.
• Tech Stack: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, MLOps, Data Mesh, Risk Management Framework (RMF), Agile/Scrum

What You’ll Actually Do
• Architecture Guidance: Ensure architectural consistency, interoperability, and integration across enterprise cloud solutions and mission systems.
• Governance & Frameworks: Develop, maintain, and enforce architectural governance frameworks and architectural decision records (ADRs).
• Security & Compliance: Lead security architecture reviews and compliance assessments across cloud platforms, supporting Authorization to Operate (ATO) processes and ensuring alignment with Risk Management Framework (RMF).
• Advisory & Strategy: Provide technical advisory support to government stakeholders on architecture strategy, cloud adoption, and vendor selection.
• Resource Management: Manage cloud cost optimization strategies, track program schedules and milestones, and support financial governance of cloud resources.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Intermediate-level experience in systems engineering within the Intelligence Community or DoD. Requires a Master’s degree with 7+ years of relevant experience, OR a Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years, OR no degree with 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience: 7-10+ years of demonstrated expertise supporting cloud environments or enterprise IT systems within DoD or Intelligence Community settings, including familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud). Active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance with polygraph is required.
• Skills: Enterprise cloud architecture principles, architectural governance framework development, security architecture reviews, Risk Management Framework (RMF), MLOps pipeline design, Data Mesh architectures.
• Bonus: Experience supporting IC space/counterspace mission systems, relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator/Architect, Security+, or similar), and experience with hybrid cloud, cross-domain solutions, or secure classified cloud environments.
