Position Overview

The Clinical & Administrative Support Intern will gain invaluable experience working under the direct supervision of the Project Manager as part of the organization’s comprehensive Pathways to Careers program. This internship offers a unique opportunity to explore various facets of home-based healthcare, supporting both clinical and administrative functions within a leading non-profit organization.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

(Including, but not limited to):

  • Shadow Clinical & Administrative Professionals: Observe and learn directly from experienced nurses, social workers, spiritual care counselors, home health aides, and other healthcare professionals. This provides critical insight into direct patient care, interdisciplinary teamwork, and the daily operations of a leading healthcare organization.
  • Contribute to Departmental Projects: Actively assist with clearly defined tasks tailored to departmental needs. This may involve valuable activities such as conducting research, organizing essential materials, performing data entry, or assisting in the creation of educational and outreach content.
  • Engage in Home-Based Care Education: Participate in comprehensive orientation and dedicated learning sessions focused on hospice, palliative care, and home health services. Develop a deep understanding of the unique challenges and profound rewards inherent in delivering compassionate care within a home environment.
  • Participate in Reflective Learning: Engage in structured, guided discussions designed to help process learning experiences, clarify career interests, and foster personal and professional growth.
  • Uphold Professional Conduct: Consistently demonstrate a high level of respect, maintain strict confidentiality, ensure punctuality, and exhibit a proactive willingness to learn and adapt in all interactions and responsibilities.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum Age: Must be at least 16 years of age by the official start date of the internship.
  • Work Eligibility: Legally eligible to work in the U.S., possessing the appropriate work permit if under 18 years of age.
  • Healthcare Interest: A demonstrated strong interest in pursuing a career within healthcare and a passion for working with diverse communities.
  • Personal Attributes: Responsible, highly curious, and receptive to constructive feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Communication Skills: Possesses good oral and written communication skills, coupled with strong interpersonal abilities. This includes the capacity to listen effectively, select and utilize appropriate communication methods, and present information clearly and concisely.
  • Teamwork: Proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Confidentiality & Professionalism: Ability to maintain a consistently high degree of confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of the job. This includes displaying utmost courtesy and sensitivity in all contacts with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Reading Comprehension: Ability to read and fully comprehend simple instructions and guidelines.

Education & Experience

  • Required Coursework: Successful completion of the “Introduction to the World of Health Care” course is mandatory.

Compensation

This internship offers a competitive hourly wage of $23.00.
