Claims Processing Intern (PEBS Program) | Florida Blue

The Tone:
This is an internship opportunity with Florida Blue, located in Florida, specifically for Baker County High School students. Florida Blue is a health solutions company dedicated to improving the health and well-being of Floridians. This Claims Processing Intern role is part of the Partners in Education for Business Success (PEBS) program, designed to offer junior and senior business-track high school students valuable hands-on experience in a real business environment. The program aims to increase participants’ knowledge of health care and develop foundational business skills, ultimately building a pipeline of potential full-time employees for the company.

• Mission: Accurately and efficiently process claims, resolve edits, and contribute to process improvements to meet departmental standards and support health care operations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Processing: Timely and accurately process claims using the Diamond and Claims Connect systems.
• Resolution: Perform online edit resolution for incoming claims.
• Data Entry: Key provider claims, including both Institutional and Professional types.
• Standards: Meet the established departmental production and quality standards for claims processing.
• Improvement: Identify, document, and share knowledge that contributes to the improvement of existing processes and products.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Must be a current high school student, at least 15 years of age and in the 11th or 12th grade, participating in a business-track program.
• Experience: Possess 0-1 year of related work experience or an equivalent combination of transferable experience and education. Must have an outstanding attendance and student behavioral record.
• Skills: Achieve and maintain an acceptable cumulative state GPA of 2.5 and be familiar with general computer hardware and software.
• Bonus: Provide three recommendations from teachers or school administrators.
