About The Church Internship Position

The Church Internship position at Skylark is for gospel-minded men and women, aged 18 years and older, to serve at one of the DFW metroplex sites. This role is considered part of the “Skylark family,” offering opportunities for community building among staff, along with personal development and discipleship provided by the leadership team. The ideal candidate is characterized by teachability, humility, and a love for fun.

Church Internship Requirements:
• Attend a mandatory Summer Staff Orientation and Training Week before the camp’s first week.
• Commit to serving a minimum of 6 weeks during the summer. Any requested weeks off must be approved in advance by the Camp Director.
• Work on-site at one of the specified locations from Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
• Model Christ-like attitudes and actions, both within and outside of the camp setting.
• Attend additional team bonding activities as scheduled by the Camp Director throughout the summer.
• Possess dependable transportation to ensure timely arrival and departure from the site.
• Participate in weekly bible studies and one-on-one sessions as scheduled by leadership.
• Have the physical ability to remain on your feet and actively participate in high-energy activities daily.
• Be capable of performing medium work, which includes regularly lifting and transporting camp equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Be able to work both indoors and outdoors, sometimes in extreme heat conditions.

Summer Staff Responsibilities:
• Lead assigned campers by providing physical, emotional, and spiritual guidance.
• Adhere to the daily schedule, guiding campers efficiently through drop-off, rallies, activity classes, outdoor time, and pickup.
• Support the program director and other staff during program activities by maintaining attention, high energy, and enforcing rules.
• Assist with the daily setup and tear-down of camp equipment, signs, and activity materials.
• Deliver quality instruction in assigned activity class(es) while ensuring camper safety at all times.
• Enforce all health and safety regulations and report any injuries or illnesses to the appropriate staff members.
• Follow the proper disciplinary/reporting chain when camper issues arise, utilizing TBRI (Trust-Based Relational Intervention) principles.
• Be prepared to communicate the current mood, struggles, victories, and overall attitude of campers to the Associate Director or full-time staff at any given time.
• Conduct one-on-one conversations with each assigned camper during the week.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Camp Director.
