About The Church Internship Position (Job Description)

This internship is a ministry-focused summer opportunity for gospel-minded individuals (18+) to serve at one of Skylark’s sites in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Church Interns are viewed as part of the Skylark family, and will have opportunities for community with fellow staffers, as well as personal development and discipleship from the leadership team. The ideal candidate is teachable, humble, and enthusiastic.

Key Responsibilities:

Camper Leadership: Lead and shepherd a group of assigned campers physically, emotionally, and spiritually. This involves building relationships, understanding their needs, and guiding them in a positive direction.
Program Execution: Maintain the daily schedule, guide campers through various activities (drop-off, rallies, activity classes, outdoor time, pickup), and assist with program activities.
Instruction and Safety: Provide quality instruction at assigned activity classes, ensuring camper safety at all times.
Equipment Management: Assist with the setup and tear down of camp equipment, signs, and activity materials.
Health and Safety: Enforce all health and safety regulations, reporting any injuries or illnesses.
Discipline and Reporting: Follow the proper disciplinary/reporting chain when camper issues arise, and utilize Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) principles.
Communication: Communicate the current mood, struggles, victories, and attitude of campers to the Associate Director or full-time staff.
One-on-One Engagement: Have individual conversations with each camper during the week.

Key Requirements:

Availability: Attend mandatory Summer Staff Orientation and Training Week, and commit to serving a minimum of 6 weeks during the summer.
Work Schedule: Work on-site Monday through Friday from 7:00am-5:30pm.
Role Model: Model Christ-like attitudes and actions in and outside of camp.
Transportation: Have dependable transportation to and from the camp site.
Spiritual Growth: Participate in weekly bible studies and one-on-ones as scheduled by leadership.
Physical Requirements: Ability to remain on your feet, participate in high-energy activities daily, and lift/transport camp equipment (up to 50 lbs). Ability to work both inside and outside, sometimes in extreme heat conditions.
Additional Team Bonding: Attend additional team bonding activities throughout the summer as scheduled by the camp director
