This position as a Senior Mechanical Engineer is critical for ensuring the robust design, efficient manufacturing, and continuous improvement of Carrier’s chiller products. What You’ll Actually Do
• Design Support: Provide expert mechanical engineering knowledge and support for the factory manufacturing of chiller products, ensuring adherence to design drawings, specifications, and unique non-standard order requirements throughout the production process.
• Product Optimization: Collaborate effectively with electrical, manufacturing, and quality engineers to identify and propose design optimization ideas, specifically focusing on improving chiller performance, reducing manufacturing costs, enhancing manufacturability, streamlining serviceability, and boosting overall product reliability.
• Prototype & Issue Resolution: Work closely with cross-functional teams to successfully complete the build of both Engineering Change Sample (ECS) and Manufacturing Change Sample (MCS) prototypes, meticulously collecting all technical issues identified during assembly, and jointly formulating comprehensive corrective action plans to address them.
• Cost Reduction & Quality Improvement: Drive and implement various cross-functional cost-down projects, which includes evaluating new component suppliers, establishing robust qualification plans for new components, calculating potential cost savings, and leading design-related quality improvement initiatives as needed to enhance product integrity.
• Testing & Analysis: Actively support all phases of chiller validation tests, including witness tests, performance tests, energy efficiency tests, and other project-specific trials, while conducting detailed simulation modeling, complex calculations, and thorough analyses to inform and guide subsequent design iterations and improvements.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline, demonstrating a strong foundation in mechanical principles applicable to complex machinery.
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of relevant engineering experience is required, with a preference for candidates who are familiar with vapor compression refrigeration and air conditioning systems and have commercial chiller or HVAC complete unit development experience.
• Skills: Exhibit strong communication skills and proficient English capability, coupled with a good teamwork awareness and competent interpersonal communication for engaging with internal and external stakeholders. Proficiency in MS Office is essential, along with hands-on experience using CAD, SolidWorks, or other 3D modeling software for design work.
• Bonus: Experience utilizing ANSYS/CFD simulation tools for detailed thermal, fluid, or structural analysis is highly preferred, and possession of a CET-6 certificate would be an advantage.
