Product Engineer | Carrier

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Carrier, located in Shanghai, China. Carrier is a global leader in heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, building solutions like chillers for various applications, including data centers. This Product Engineer role is crucial for ensuring the successful manufacturing of these products, driving continuous design improvement, and supporting key projects from design to aftermarket service. The position plays a vital part in maintaining product performance, quality, and cost-effectiveness across the entire product lifecycle.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Manufacturing Oversight: Oversee factory production of duty products according to drawings and specifications, collaborating with engineers to improve chiller design for performance, cost, manufacturability, serviceability, and quality.
• Project Support: Provide essential support for Data Center application projects, assisting with documentation, meetings, and selection processes.
• ETO Management: Facilitate Engineer-To-Order (ETO) design and manufacturing processes.
• Cost Reduction: Implement cost-down projects cross-functionally, involving supplier selection, qualification planning, and savings calculation.
• Quality & Testing: Resolve chiller quality issues at job sites and for aftermarket support, potentially leading design-related improvement projects, and support various chiller tests including witness and energy saving tests.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Master’s or Bachelor’s degree with a focus on HVAC, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
• Skills: Demonstrated proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, PowerPoint, and Excel VBA. Strong communication skills are essential, including fluent oral, reading, and writing abilities in English, evidenced by a CET-6 certification. The role also requires excellent interpersonal skills for effective internal and external collaboration, the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Bonus: Prior experience or capability in utilizing engineering simulation, optimization, and data analysis software such as FORTRAN, C, MatLab, or Python is highly preferred.
