The Tone:
This is a non-exempt position with the City of Clermont, located in Clermont, FL. The City of Clermont is dedicated to serving its community by maintaining public spaces and infrastructure. This role is crucial for ensuring the respectful care and upkeep of the city’s 40-acre cemetery, contributing to the community’s heritage and providing a dignified environment for citizens.

• Mission: To ensure the comprehensive care, upkeep, and respectful maintenance of the City of Clermont’s 40-acre cemetery.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Cemetery Upkeep: Perform duties related to the enhancement, cleaning, repair, and overall maintenance of the 40-acre cemetery, ensuring its respectful appearance and functionality.
• Grounds Maintenance: Execute general groundskeeping tasks such as mowing grass, trimming trees and shrubs, installing landscape materials, edging around headstones, driveways, curbs, and sidewalks, and removing weeds, trash, and debris.
• Operational Tasks: Conduct routine daily tasks including reading the well’s water meter, removing weathered flower arrangements from graves, and blowing off driveways and headstones.
• Public and Repair Support: Assist citizens with locating graves and showing interested parties lots and columbariums, while also helping with minor repairs to the irrigation system.
• Safety Compliance: Properly utilize all equipment and tools, consistently follow established safety practices, including personal protective equipment, and remain continuously aware of occupational hazards during all assigned tasks.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A High School Diploma or GED is required, along with a valid Florida Driver’s License. This role is suitable for individuals at an Early Career stage.
• Experience: No prior experience is required, making this an accessible opportunity for new entrants to the field.
• Skills: Demonstrated ability in general grounds maintenance, safe operation of equipment and tools, adherence to safety practices, basic irrigation system repair, and effective interaction with the public for assistance and information.
