• Duration: Training assignments typically last 12 to 24 months.
• Definition: The intern participates in structured training to progress into a specific occupational field, receiving technical job training and guidance on workplace behavior, competencies, and skill development.
• Essential Job Functions:
• Provides clerical support, including filing, sorting, and arranging documents.
• Assists the public with directions, instructions, and responses to inquiries in person or by telephone.
• Assists in operating communication systems (telephone, switchboard, etc.).
• Uses keyboarding skills to prepare documents, letters, and reports.
• Processes work through data entry on a computer.
• Receives payments and issues receipts.
• Requirements:
• Candidates must meet one of the following specialty requirements:
• Foster Youth Program: Current enrollment, completion of, or past eligibility for the Department of Children and Family Services’ or Probation Department’s Independent Living Program (ILP).
• County Youth Bridges Opportunity Program: Identification as an At-Risk Youth by an authorized agency or non-profit organization.
• Homeless Hiring Program: Individuals who are homeless or formerly homeless, verified by participating agencies, or have a certificate from related training programs.
• Disability Hiring Program: Possess an Individuals Facing Barriers to Employment Program Certificate from the State Department of Rehabilitation (DOR).
• License: Some positions may require a valid California Class C Driver License.
• Physical Class: 2 – Light (occasional light lifting up to 10 pounds, some bending, stooping, squatting, and considerable walking).
